Slice of Life: What Would Your Story Be in Six Words? #SOL20 #TWTBlog

I think I am going to have my students write six-word memoirs. I think they would be powerful right now.

As soon as she said, I knew that this structure was calling to me.

Over the years I have shared my six-word memoir during back to school mandatory professional development with teachers.  I love how it pushes you to think about your life, word choice and the opportunity to say so much with a few words.  The community always explodes with conversation, laughter, and tears.  It is a powerful experience to try to sum up your story in six words. This was my first six-word story.

It’s a girl. She is 71.

My story in six words has changed over the years.  It got me thinking about how I would capture what is happening in my life right now, in the world right now.  If I were to look back on six words to tell my story what would they be?

Empty Nest. So Close. Now Full.

What would your story be in six words?

Thanks to Franki Sibberson for the inspiration.

Thank you, Stacey, Beth, Betsy, Kathleen, Melanie, Lanny, Kelsey, Marina, Amy, and Therapi for hosting this weekly forum and the March Challenge. Check out the writers, readers, and teachers here.
